National Child Day

November 20th is National Child Day.

National Child Day celebrates two historic events for children: Canada’s adoption of the United Nations’ Declaration on the Rights of the Child (1959) and Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989).

N.C.D gives recognition to children as important and valued members of our society. It reminds us that children need love and respect to grow to their full potential.

The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through other media of the child’s choice.”
