With over 200 clients capture over the past two years, Ashlyn’s simplistic and unique style is like no other. She truly talented in being able to capture the essence and uniqueness of your newborn and family. Ashlyn has over 4 years of experience; having taken various college courses and being mentored by the famous Robin Long of Robin Long Photography, Ashlyn continues to perfect her skills and her style.
“I started photography about five years ago when I was in college. One of our projects was to research different types of photography and I just so happened across newborn photography by fluke! I immediately fell in love with it and began my journey as a newborn photographer. I went on to university and received my bachelor of arts in history but throughout that time I had already established my business. As soon as I graduated university I dove right in and began working on a full-time basis. Because I started out so young and so early I had four years to cultivate my skills, build my portfolio, attend workshops, iron out my unique style and make a solid and reputable name for myself. I love what I do more than anything. I specialize in capturing the most precious and fleeting time in your baby’s life. I love their curl, their tiny features and their subtle smiles. I want to capture every thing about them that makes your heart melt.”

Her home studio is located in Ajax and serves the Durham Region, Toronto, GTA and surrounding areas. I believe that photos play a very important role in our lives. They have a unique way of lasting much longer than our natural memories. They also remind us of where we came from and usually bring with them warm fuzzy feelings inside. These emotions allow us to be mindful of how really precious life is. Technology today has taken George Eastman’s dream (Mr. Kodak) and kicked it up a huge notch. No longer do we have to wait months to have our photos processed and printed, results of a photo session are edited and retouched professionally and ready within 5-7 days. If you are pregnant and would like to give yourself a gift you will never forget or for someone you know contact Durham Region’s very own Maternity and Newborn photographer Shannon Nicole Photography to set up a session. Shannon loves natural and candid moments that are caught in between the posed shots when the subjets are in their most natural state and you can perceive a sense of their personality through the image. She captures portraits, maternity, newborn, engagements, weddings and events. Shannon has a photgraphy degree from Ryerson Unversity where she graduated in 2006.
Shannon writes; “My love for photography started in high school when I was introduced to Henri Cartier-Bresson in an art history course and fell in love with his work. It inspired me to take a photography class where it did not take me long to realize I wanted to pursue photography as my career. I love what I do because I can give a family an image that is timeless and will remind them of the beauty in their everyday life. I love seeing the look in a parent’s eye when laughing, playing and spending time with their newborn, it is a moment I get to be proud of to be a part of because of my job. Equally as beautiful is an expecting mom awaiting her first born or additional bundle to the family, it is a very intimate type of shoot when working with maternity and brings me a lot of joy to be a part of. I capture as many natural moments as possible and when posing I use the client’s natural body language to keep them comfortable as well as keeping shoot as natural as possible.”
